Sales Reps – Markup Notes

A Markup Note is where you can annotate a title listing with the information that you, as a rep, are privy to, and that your accounts will likely find useful while ordering. For example, because of the public nature of Edelweiss catalogs, many publishers don’t post their print runs in their catalog copy. This information can be quite relevant to your buyers, so you can provide it here. Many buyers have mentioned that with reps who write exceptional markup notes, they tend not to reference the catalog copy, but instead base their decisions primarily on their reps’ notes.

Markup notes are entered in the text box within the Markup Tools area. You’ll have the ability to change the font size and color, add bold/italics, include links, images, and more. Note that there is a 5,000 character limit (including spaces) for markup notes!

If you don’t see the Markup area in your catalog or collection, you can open it from the drawer to the left of the title listing, or you can set Markup Tools to always be open and visible in your Preferences.

Your markup note can contain planned publicity, your take on the title, general excitement about the author, or anything other information that may be useful to your account. Adding images can be helpful at times, as well as links to relevant videos, the author’s website, etc.
