It’s very likely that you’ll want to add titles from different catalogs to one order, whether it’s titles from both an adult and a kids catalog, or a frontlist “Omni” catalog and a drop-in catalog, this is a pretty common scenario.
This is very easy to do. You simply, after creating an order, make sure that the correct order is selected as your Active Order at the top of a catalog page:
If you’re not able to select the order you like, you have most likely “bound” it to a specific catalog, other than the one in which you’re working. You can change that by going to your Orders page and editing that order. The first pop-up window will show your general order details — click Next to go to the binding options (or, if you do not want to bind your order, click Save without Binding).
In the next window, begin typing a publisher name under the Vendor bindings field or a catalog name in the Catalog bindings field. Select the name of the publisher or catalog you want to bind your order to and click Save when finished. Note too, depending on a publisher’s setup, their distributed presses may auto-assign when an order is bound. For example, selecting W. W. Norton as a bound vendor will also bind the order to Akashic Books, Thames & Hudson, Tin House Books, and Yale University Press.
Once your order is bound, return to the catalog from which you’d like to order and select this order from your Active Order list. Binding an order to a publisher rather than a specific catalog tends to make things as simple as possible, as you won’t be able to accidentally add another publisher’s titles to the order, but can add a title from any of this publisher’s catalogs to the order.
If you’d like to unbind your order, simply go back into your order edit screen, go to the 2nd window, and click the X icons next to the publisher you want to unbind from. Click Save and you’re all set!
Binding your orders also enables you to narrow down your search for old orders by selecting a publisher from the left-hand refinement bar. If you do not bind an order to a publisher or catalog, it will not be officially connected to a Vendor — so when refining your orders by a specific publisher, unbound orders will be filtered out.
