Sales Reps – Suggested Orders

Suggested Orders are not technically part of a markup, since when you add order suggestions to a catalog for an account, it will be visible to them immediately (independent of any shared markups). Still, suggested orders and markups tend to go hand in hand.

Suggestions are another tool to use judiciously! Suggesting an account order 50 copies of every title in a catalog is a quick way to lose that account’s trust. That said, using this tool to indicate titles you think are important for your accounts can be very helpful. You can also use it to suggest an account skip less relevant titles, as well, by suggesting an order of “0,” but that exercise is less common.

If you have a particularly trusting account, you can create a complete suggested order by entering suggested order quantities for all titles in the catalog you believe the store should order, which they can instantly ‘accept’ at the push of a button.

Suggested orders can only be used for accounts that use Edelweiss to order. For accounts that do not use Edelweiss, you’ll need to actually create an order for them. More on that here.

How to add Suggestions

In a catalog or collection, select an account in the markup toolbar at the top. Select the Edit Suggestions option:

Once you’ve selected an account for whom you’d like to suggest order quantities, you’ll see an orange field on the right-hand side of the title listing (or multiple if the store has multiple locations, as is the case in our example).

These orange fields are where you’ll enter your suggested order quantities. You’ll see a running tally of your order suggestions, with total number of titles and total units. Leaving a field will automatically save what you’ve entered into that field, and will be immediately visible to the account the next time they view this title.

Below is an example of what an account will see on their end when their rep has entered Suggestions:

Your account can simply click on the orange bubbles to accept your suggestion(s), which will automatically add that quantity to their selected active order.

You can also clear suggestions carried over from previous catalogs. To do so, open your current markup, select the account you want to clear suggestions for from the Markups toolbar, then select Actions > Select All > Remove Suggestions. Alternatively, check off the specific title(s) you’d like to clear suggestions for and select Actions > Remove Suggestions:

Tip: Suggestions are a field that you can export and import. Learn more here!
