In this session for Edelweiss Sales Reps, Edelweiss Software Developer Claire Fields presents an overview of our New List View, with an emphasis on creating and sharing markups with accounts.

Our Plans for the Beta Phase

The Edelweiss platform is undergoing some significant technology upgrades to increase the speed and stability of the tools you rely on every day.

As part of this, we have updated two core parts of the Edelweiss site—the Catalog and Order List View pages—to address common user feedback and improve the efficiency of the sales and buying processes on our site.

Because these pages are integral to so many users, we are taking extra care with our changes and incorporating user feedback at every stage of development. Throughout fall 2023, all U.S. Edelweiss bookstore buyers received an invitation from Edelweiss to participate in the List View Beta and share their thoughts on the proposed updates. In January 2024, all U.K. booksellers were invited to join the List View Beta and test out the New View.

In July, the New List View Beta was made available for all sales reps and publisher users to explore the New View from their perspective and submit feedback on the changes.

Turning on the new View is currently optional. Note that sales reps and buyers can use either View in collaboration with one another. We highly encourage users to give the New View a try and to share their thoughts on the proposed updates during the Beta period. User feedback will contribute to the continued development, and eventual future release, of a New List View in the first quarter of 2025.

Get Started with the New View

Once invited to the List View Beta, Edelweiss sales reps will see a toggle switch to turn on the View when browsing collections and catalogs on Edelweiss:

This toggle is not available on every page of the website, only those pages with catalogID or orderID in the url.

When a user first turns on the new List View, they will be prompted to take a walk-through of the changes and new features to help them find their way.

Missed this walk-through? Don't worry! You can always replay the walk-through by clicking into the "Resources for Sales Rep Beta Testers" tab of the List View Knowledge Center in the bottom right corner of your screen:

Discover New and Improved Functionality

With the new List View, we moved some of the most-used Edelweiss functions to be more visible and accessible. And, while we were there, we also added some new features to better support your work on the site.

Here are some of the changes and additions you can expect when you turn on the new View:

collapsible catalog actions toolbar

You can now open and close the catalog overview to see more about the catalog and to access additional actionssuch as Add to Worklist or Folders.

updated markup and order bar

Moved from the bottom of your screen, the Edelweiss markup and order bar is now more readily available at the top of a title list.

Click into "Markup" to create (or rename) your markup as well as to export or import a markup. Use "Shares" to select accounts with which to share your markup.

Want to make suggestions or input order quantities? Select from Account to choose the account with which you'd like to work, and use the buttons to switch between editing orders and editing suggestions.

If editing an order, pick the one with which you would like to work by clicking into Selected Order.

auto-save for markup notes

You never need to search for an unsaved markup note again! Markup notes in the new List View auto-save. Find all your markup functions (tags, notes, and priority) within the Markup Tools box.

improved list refinements

We made improvements to our filters menu, so you can drill down into a title list and combine a wide variety of refinement criteria (metadata, markup elements, user activity) without page refreshments.

Click "Filter" on the top catalog navigation bar to check it out!

separate preferences and actions menus

With a separate menu for catalog preferences, your visibility settings for catalogs are now more... visible!

Open your Preferences to adjust which elements of a title you see when browsing a catalog, including your Markup Tools and Suggestions.

And, now you can set a preference to see title reviews just from colleagues and friends!

Looking to select all titles in a catalog (or the current page), add titles in bulk to collection, or add/remove tags (both personal and markup!) from books?

You can do all that and more using the Actions menu!

Prefer to select titles for actions as you browse? Just tick the title's checkbox.

new title actions sidebar

Don't worry, everything is still here! We just moved a few things around, so the most-popular title actions are simpler to find.

Want to copy a title link? Find that and more under "More Actions." Looking to add a title to your shelves or collections? Just click the "Add To..." button.

2024-01-29_12-25-19

The new View brings highlights favorite Community features. Add books to Community Collaborative Lists, plus access at-a-glance information about a title's number of reviews, shelves, and average rating from members of your joined communities.

We Want to Hear from You!

While optional, we hope users will give the new View a try, submit feedback on the changes, and make their voice heard throughout our development process. We expect to make improvements and changes based on user feedback, and we appreciate your time sharing your experience (good or bad!).

Feedback can be submitted from within Edelweiss via the Knowledge Center by selecting the menu option "Give us Feedback!" or via the link HERE.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to us at support@abovethetreeline.com if you have any questions about this update or if you run into trouble turning on or using the new View.
